Futurama is chock full of big and little jokes, many not spoken, and I often have to pause to read them.
Nixon's head refering to his people as "fellow Earthicans" is always on point somehow. Also endorsing products during his speeches. And calling the flag "ol' Freebie".
Also, considering Futurama was most active in the 20-oughts, it's often interesting to see how they satirize the very same issues the US are dealing with today.
They call it an Earthican flag. I have not read into the Futurama wikis but assume the bad America politicians (like Nixon & Headless robot Agnew) progressively took over the planet. More and more show similarities become current US events.
The funny... if this stuff continues we're going to need a new USA flag.
I tried to look for a generic shape pic of North America. But I guess I'm too tired right now, because my brain saw this image below and said... "it's Patrick wearing a cape riding a giant seahorse with SpongeBob on its back looking the other direction smoking a cigarette".
I need to go to bed.
Oops, I should have horizontally flipped the coin-op picture. My seahorse is * huge*, its tail is Mexico and Patrick's cone-tipped head is northern-most Canada. Quebec is SpongeBob, Newfoundland is a heart-shaped smoke puff cloud.

I'm currently re-watching the whole shebang and sometimes I just have to take a screenshot. Unpolitical, therefore somewhat OT:

It really is just funny that—not only is it an American flag—but it’s the “Earth” flag and it only shows the globe centered on America.
That view of the globe only shows like 20% of the world’s population since the majority of humanity lives outside of the American continents.
