Hello! Recently, I've been grappling with worsening eisoptrophobia (fear of reflections), and I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. I also seem to have spectrophobia (fear of mirrors), which is distinct, but I think I have both.
Forgive me if this is the wrong community to post to, I could not find a broader community focused on phobias, or a community for either of these phobias.

Fascinating.
Can you pinpoint a time when this started for you?

Around a year ago I started being uncomfortable, but it's gotten worse recently. When I am in a comfortable environment like home, I am able to look myself in the mirror without much discomfort, but a recent shopping trip left me in a panic due to how many mirrors and reflective surfaces there were (in the cold section).

But prior to then you weren't uncomfortable with it?

No.

Obviously if you don't feel comfortable, don't answer... Anything specifically traumatic happen since?

Yeah. I've never thought about that before.

Things like this don't manifest in a vacuum. If you have the means to talk to a therapist about it, they might be able to help you unpack it.
Be well, friend.

I'm ok unless it's dark. There is something unwholesome about mirrors in the dark.
