Yeah I wish Superman would take on more social issues again. It was pretty interesting that they had Superman weigh in on a war between to nations in the new James Gunn movie.
As usual, the super hero never works to change the system. What he ought to be doing is using his powers to build transit and sidewalk infrastructure at super-speed.
I've seen the video before and agree, superheroes rarely change the status quo, there are a few exceptions. I think the biggest mainstream example of this was Superman IV film, where Christopher Reeves' Superman decides to take all the nuclear weapons on Earth and throw them into the Sun. The rest of the movie was pretty bad but the fact that they did something like that in a big budget feature film is amazing!
