Instance blocking no longer works?

I blocked hexbear a long time ago, on my mtgzone and .world accounts, and recently I've seen posts from there on those accounts as if I hadn't.

Unsure if this is an app issue or platform issue. Are there caps to the size of block lists? I don't see a count for instance blocks, but I've blocked over 1000 communities.

V400 should be latest, could you check if the issue is still happening there? There shouldn't be any caps on list length.

Instance blocking only blocks communities on the instance, not the users. If a user from the blocked instance posts to another instance you don't have blocked, you still see the user.

That said, I have also noticed USERS I have blocked getting unblocked recently, and they are not simply on an alternate account.

Edit: It seems the users I am seeing become "unblocked" is actually an asshole going around impersonating other big accounts (mainly mods and admins). Has nothing to do with the app.

I thought blocking an instance hides all of the communities on that instance? That's what I'm trying to achieve

Yeah, it should be blocking the communities. Are you seeing the communities or just users of the instance?

Communities

Example: clicking this highlighted link, then refreshing the page, I still see the post in question

I've noticed this too and it seems to appear under certain conditions that I haven't figured out. It is infrequent but I think it's loading the "default" feed and that seems to disregard instance blocking. I've noticed this with only All but that's mostly what I view so perhaps it could affect other feeds.

It would be a nice feature to have to be able to block all users from an instance.

That can be toggled by going into the block list in Settings. I can't link to it but the option is near the top of the block list.

It looks like that option is missing from lemmy.world:

I meant Settings in Connect. It's an app specific feature so it won't take effect on the web version.
