Hello, can someone explain this one to me?

GrayBackgroundMusic@lemmy.zip · 28 pts · 177d

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grapefruit%E2%80%93drug_interactions

Sertraline is a common anti depressants. Adderall, for adhd. Statins for cholesterol. Far more listed there.

The other replies have explained it to you, but neither of them acknowledged your greeting. Hello!

You don't have to eat it, it's good for other... activities.

IndiBrony@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 177d (1 reply)

Only if you exercise the proper technique.

chunkystyles@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 177d

I can hear it.

Paradachshund@lemmy.today · 15 pts · 177d (5 replies)

I can't decide if this is a grapefruit hating joke or an "in this economy?" joke

ickplant@lemmy.world · 51 pts · 177d (4 replies)

It’s a “everyone is on some sort of antidepressant “ joke, at least to me.

Paradachshund@lemmy.today · 12 pts · 177d (3 replies)

Oh does grapefruit affect that? That sounds right now that I know that.

kayzeekayzee@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 16 pts · 177d (1 reply)

A lot of psychoactive medicines will literally just kill you if you eat grapefruit lol.

In the one medication I know about, grapefruit prevents your body from filtering the medication out of your blood, eventually causing the levels in your blood to become lethal

Which medicine? I think I just found ONE NEAT HACK and DRUG COMPANIES will HATE ME!

apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 177d

Affects a lot of medications, not just antidepressants.

"Funny"

TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 177d

Imagine if you were being held at gun point and the only way to save your life was to tell a joke, and this was the joke you chose to tell.

Jentu@lemmy.ml · 7 pts · 177d (1 reply)

Well at least my activated charcoal infused orange juice doesn’t affect anything.

It doesn’t affect anything, right?

VicksVaporBBQrub@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 177d

On the topic of drug interactions, make sure you are not taking Allegra for allergies. Oh, wait -- you said activated charcoal? Nevermind.

sometimes I think the stereotype of Americans being overweight and slovenly is an exaggeration, but then I see shit like this.

ickplant@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 177d (2 replies)

It’s literally a joke about how grapefruit interacts poorly with medications, but ok.

FiskFisk33@startrek.website · 2 pts · 177d

oh, I hadn't the slightest

Cruxifux@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 177d

really? Weird.

superfes@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 177d

I don't even get it...

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 177d

It's lovely when someone shows their inability to stop and think by making blatantly mindless comments.

It's lovely because it's absolutely hilarious.
