Poor Friedrich Merz.. that way, just as he finally managed to overcome the ignominy of his eternal nemesis Merkel blocking his political career for decades, by catching up with her and becoming Chancellor at last, she will yet again move ahead of him and become someone that'll be greeted before him. LOL!
This morning, I realised that I even could find a positive spin for Spahn becoming president. Just imagine him being forced in that neutral, non-party, dignified position for a very long time. Instead of meddling in daily politics, he'd be forced to meet heads of state in front of his palace. Instead of establishing lucrative connections with the industry and establishing himself as an important figure in the party, he'd be sidelined to give New Year's Addresses. It would put a sudden stop to all his ambitions to merchandise himself. His political career would be completely destroyed by becoming the nominally most important man that unfortunately has his hands tied in every aspect he likes to use them. :)
Honestly Merkel would be the first president to overshadow anyone being chancellor. She is done with politics, but honestly she would be the best pick you could do for the office.
She defenetly done and respectfully i wish her all the rest and a quiet long lasting life. I dont agree with many things she did. But she still was an honorable leader and damn good at keeping a state of calmn and safety. Unlike her ministers that fucked up everything. Her name "Mutti" (mother) has a reason and yes she was the mother of germany.
I would actually love to see Angela Merkel in that position for one very simple reason:
It would be the ultimate "fuck you!" for Friedrich Merz. And it would be really fun to get some positive statements about sanity and unity every single time Temu-Mr.Burns sputters his latest bit of racist or mysanthropic bullshit. Not because she actually believes it -no one in that corrupt shitpile of a party has actual believes or morales- but just because she hates Merz so much.
It doesn't matter what's between their legs. What Germany needs is a party willing to tax the fucking rich and go HAM on Pooteen. If it's just another 15 years of letting everything go to waste, it doesn't matter if a man or a woman does it.
It's not a general election. In Germany, the president has a merely representative function. While I get your point, I think you might be confusing the chancellor with the president.

Germany's president is the head of state but holds next to no actual power, similar to the monarchs in Europe

Indeed I was. My point does stand about their chancellor though.

Ok, bets are open which lobby this candidate will represent.
