Maybe your interpretation is right, that OP was saying "Trump is gay," but the way I interpreted it was "Trump is Putin's bitch." OP is not saying Trump is gay and that is the punchline. The problem is the message that usually gets delivered and / or reinforced to a lot of people is that Trump is gay and that is the punchline.
