You can't replace a translator with AI. It has to be AI + a human to fix the crappy AI output. Guess what ends up being cheaper? I didn't change careers, and they're hiring translators again. Bubble is bursting.
If your only skillset is being a translator, you shouldve been looking to switch careers a decade ago. AI or no AI, technology was bound to replace this role eventually. Im surprised it took this long.
AI translator can't even handle two-line memes half the time. Because you need deep understanding of the culture and the context even for simplest jokes to be translated appropriately - if it's even possible to convey it close enough in another language.
If your only skillset was being a translator (or, in fact, any skill), you wouldn't have posted a take this uninformed.
