Yup. They're manufactured by Hershey's in the US, and Hershey's is notorious for using butyric acid in the production of its chocolate, which, yeah, is one of the compounds found in puke. If you grow up eating Hershey's chocolate you don't really notice it though.
No, not really. We do have a handful of smaller local candymakers that try to make their own versions of chocolate wafers that are way better, though. But they're very rare.
Is the US, KitKat is made by Hershey, so not sure if the Nestle version sold in Europe is any better. The US version just tastes like “number going up”. That’s the best description for how a lot of American food tastes. It’s so sweet that it makes my throat and tongue go numb, which mostly drowns out the chemical aftertaste, but not quite.
If they calm down at some point I want to go over and find out for myself. Im subjected to a lot of product placement thanks to American TV and Hollywood being so prevalent, but every time I find that product here in the UK it tastes like shit.
I don't know if the recipes have changed to work around differing regulations, or if it really does suck and US standards are just lower, or if only that stuff sucks thanks to decades of enshittification and theyre coasting on brand recognition or some 5th or 9th thing I cant be bothered typing.

I don't think there's better company to steal from than nestle

A cookie does taste better when its stolen.

Could be worse... Thieves could've swapped them with the American puke flavored ones.

nestle has the blood of a million babies in it's ingredients. Fuck nestle.
AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 128d
At least ours aren't made by Nestle.

Hang on.
America has non-nestle, puke flavoured kit-kats?

You will if you stop eating it for a while or try it compared to something real.

"In Europe"?

Another article I read earlier (I'll have to find the link) said Poland, and something about a missing shipment.
Lumidaub@feddit.org · 3 pts · 128d
That sounds more sensible.

Fuck yeah, fuck Nestle, free chocolate!

Bars or cereal?
Greg@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 127d
If they do it multiple times it will be cereal and if they get caught there will be bars.

No time like the present to take a swipe at a “lot of American food” eh?
No, a “lot” of our food doesn’t taste like barf. Just cheap chocolate, of which we do have far too much.
