All animals and birds are intelligent enough to decide their food 🥝 on their own. Only human beings decide their food after watching ads on TVs.

Pretty sure humans have already been eating before the TV was invented.

Birds ARE animals, just like us, and the history of life is that much of the time, feeding is done opportunistically, with "intelligence" not necessarily playing much of a role.

I have not watched a television intentionally since 2003. You should try it sometime.

Why did you insert that word "intentionally" in your statement ???

Pat_Riot@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 159d

Well, because sometimes you get stuck in a space that has one on, and they can be super hard to ignore in those situations.

If TV ads were targeted at birds, they would surely bite

So... species which haven't invented television (all others) are by this definition "smarter" than that which did (us), because they don't suffer a downside of the technology?

Reminds me of a drunken conversation with a pubby about how he thought birds and fish were "smarter" than us, because they had to navigate in 3D instead of on a plane. At least that guy had half a point...

Don't tell him about pilots!

hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 159d (1 reply)

Are you implying that birds are not animals?

FlowerFan@piefed.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 159d

Clearly they're gouvernment surveillance drones

marighost@piefed.social · 3 pts · 160d

No I decide my food after looking in my fridge and choosing something from there.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 3 pts · 160d (4 replies)

My pets have chosen food advertised on TV 🤷‍♂️

Vaelix_Prism@multiverse.soulism.net · 1 pts · 160d (3 replies)

They chose ?? Consciously ???

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 3 pts · 160d (2 replies)

Well they didn't do it unconsciously.

Vaelix_Prism@multiverse.soulism.net · 1 pts · 160d (1 reply)

You mean to say the TV trained their consciousness alongwith yours ???

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 6 pts · 160d

I mean that they saw food on the TV and tried to eat it.

I'm gradually moving towards a fruitarian diet. A vegetarian presently.

If other animals had cash to spend we’d figure out ways of marketing to them too.

Vaelix_Prism@multiverse.soulism.net · 1 pts · 160d

So, food has to come from the market ???

unmagical@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 160d

Ah yes, intelligent enough to eat the first thing you come across that you know you can eat (last part optional if you're hungry).
