These challenges are awful in absolutely every way. It's hard to think of a more senseless way to go.
Are there any social media "challenges" that are actually funny, entertaining or creative rather than just being unpleasant and/or dangerous?

When Patrick Stewart did the ice bucket challenge by putting a single ice cube into a glass of whiskey, then signing a cheque for ALS research.

while i agree some of the challenges are dumb, this challenge is literally just "eat one spicy chip and dont drink water afterwards" i have to imagine that if the chip did kill him, he mustve been allergic or something. ive eaten a whole bag of Paqui chips before no problem.

The bag of Paqui chips are nothing like the single chip that is eaten during the challenge. It is a single chip that comes in its own package for like $10. It is drenched in reaper pepper powder and is literally thousands of times hotter than the bag of chips when measured on the Scoville scale. I've done it a few times and it puts grown men on the floor.

What about eating extremely spicy foods is appealing to you? Like to the point where you don't enjoy the flavor it's just pain you are going for
KingOfNoobs@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y
Just to see if I could do it.

As someone who enjoys spice sometimes it is a good pain. Also if you cook with a reaper well it has a really nice flavour.

Heres my hot take (pun intended): 7 pot pepper is a better flavor and it feels intensely hot.

Ok, but why?
KingOfNoobs@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y
Just like to challenge myself.

Hillary, right?

Mallory. Take from that what you will.
FlyingSquid@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y
You can jump off a 20-story building too, but I don't know why you would do either.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y
Yeah but only once. Unlike the one chip challenge that I have done a few times.
I think this is one of the those things that you instantly understand or never understand it.

On an empty stomach something like that can cause major issues in the stomach/intestines
moog@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y
did not realize this was a special singular chip my bad.
hoch@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y
The chip even comes in its own coffin 💀

Even if this isn't the most dangerous of challenges it's still incredibly pointless and uninspired. Are there any that aren't?
Godric@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y
Anyone born after 1993 can't cook, all they know is McDonalds, charge phone, eat hot chip, and die
