There is little evidence where exactly this pastry originated. It's called Arretjescake where I live, but the Germans call it a Cold Dog (and it's quite different from a hot dog).
But why it's known in English as Hedgehog Slice is quite unclear to me.

Korvapuusti, the Finnish variation of cinnamon bun. Goes perfectly with a cup of black coffee, though usually not for dessert but as a "coffee snack"
