Great news! I love the project

I played around with Godot a couple years back and it is so fucking cool such a powerful tool like that is open source and free. Want them to succeed and grow, this is great news. Looking forward to seeing what the next big project to switch to the software will be.

For other genre-flavored Godot fans:

Road to Vostok is made in Godot, just went Early Access.

Godot can do more than cutesy/2D games.

Its somewhere between Escape from Tarkov and Stalker, single player.

Oh, also, at least for the vast majority of the development, if not still currently: Just one dude.

Cruelty Squad and Psycho Patrol R (both by Ville Kallio) were also made in Godot, for those who enjoy it when the dev is on drugs throughout development and working solo. Just know that the games are rough in the sense that the developer is on record stating that actual spite towards the player went into the game.

Yeah, I appreciate those games as technical endeavors... I do not appreciate them as a player, as its very clear that they are essentially designed to troll you, the player.

I'm not that much of a sweat/masochist, christ.

This was the one where the dev had been working on it Unity but ended up rebuilding it in Godot after the licensing debacle, yeah?

sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 127d

I think it was just one guy, but basically yeah, iirc, he was originally building it in Unity, then switched to Godot.

Slay the Spurs 2 is a good game

Some of the art is a bit wonky though

Mozingo@lemmy.world · 87 pts · 128d (5 replies)

Well yea, it's early access, and half the art is labeled "placeholder" cause it's not done yet. Great game regardless though.

Better this than an AI-generated one

Gaja0@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 128d

The game is already a lot cleaner than the first

nature_man@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 128d (1 reply)

Honestly I love some of the placeholder stuff, its cute

missingno@fedia.io · 4 pts · 127d

StS1 let you unlock all the beta art as a toggle after finishing the True Ending. I guarantee you this will be back once StS2 gets its True Ending.

panda_abyss@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 127d

It does not feel like early access until you get to the end and unlock an unfinished epoch

Slay the Spurs 2

You mean the current season Tottenham are having?

IEatDaFeesh@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 128d (3 replies)

How is it "wonky"?

scutiger@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 128d (1 reply)

A bunch of the game's art looks like quick mspaint drawings. It's just placeholder art while the game is still being developed.

Boingboing_r@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 128d

Well thats intentional. And was the alpha art for the first one. The idea is there. And I would rather see someones scribbles in crayon than AI.

Svinhufvud@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 128d

There is some clear placeholder art in a few places.

Shit I'm not a huge deck builder game fan, but I might buy this game and throw some money at Godot as well.

Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works · 25 pts · 128d

Well it's by far the best deckbuilder out there so i hope you like it despite not enjoying other ones!

Skankhunt420@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 127d

You should do this and Inscryption.

Fizz@lemmy.nz · 19 pts · 127d
