Thank you! It’s my most prized possession because of sentimental value, but it is also objectively beautiful.

Agree, objectively stunning.

Your babushka had cool taste.

Thank you! She passed in 2014 at 94 years old and was a very vocal dissident against Putin. She also dyed her hair fire engine red with henna and didn’t give two shits about what people thought of her. She was a very loving grandma, and I was lucky to have her.

Your grandma was a badass!

Victory for Ukraine, liberty for Russians.

She sounds like an ultimate badass. I hope you continue to get inspired by her.

Ofc, now that I've shown this to a certain key someone in my life, I'm semi on the hook to track one down or make it myself 😂🤌🏼

This person found the original sculptor - maybe you can look on eBay and such?

Also, let me know if you want pics from different angles if you decide to make something similar.

I've heard grannies called silver foxes; first time hearing one called a porcelain fox. 🤔

Captainautism@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 149d

Man, I love that!

This is cool as fuck are there any makers marks or signatures on it?

egrets@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 149d (1 reply)

I found a Facebook thread for what looked like an identical piece, and the context given was:

"Fox", 1961.

Leningrad Porcelain Factory (Ленинградский завод фарфоровых изделий - ЛЗФИ).

Author: Lev Naumovich Smorgon (February 17, 1929, Detskoe Selo, Leningrad Region) - sculptor, painter, graphic artist, medalist, children's toy artist, writer.

That’s so cool, thank you!

Thank you!

It has the Russian letter F (“Ф”), which stand for “farfor” or porcelain. I am not sure what the other one says, but it’s probably the manufacturer.

I would guess that's the 10th in a series
