Did everyone get their ape costume?

LadyButterfly@reddthat.com · 14 pts · 132d

Yep also got a bone in my hair

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 132d

TSA wouldn't let me through the gate. They called the local Zoo to pick me up.

Send help! Or, bananas.

pastermil@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 132d

Probably not. They must have their birthday suit tho.

Wait shit I thought we were doing chewbaccas. Can I just blend in with the crowd and fake it?

ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al · 44 pts · 132d (1 reply)

This is so sad. Imagine having to bring balloons to your own welcome home party.

FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 132d

Don’t worry, the sailors brought a couple bigger ones to welcome them home.

cool, they made it back. I want to see the state of the heat shield though!

echodot@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 132d (1 reply)

It's it the same heat shield as on Apollo. I thought the issue was that they'd forgotten how to make it so it didn't work as well on Artemis I (though even that one came back intact).

Nighed@feddit.uk · 9 pts · 132d

They made some material changes (removing asbestos) and did it tiled instead of one piece.

They found that (on the installed version) doing the skip menuvre, it actually wasn't hot enough and the material offgased without burning, causing bits to break off.

They made a new version, but didn't update this mission with it.

In YouTube chat everyone was thanking God 'n' Jeezus, nobody gave any credit to FUCKING SCIENCE.

Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip · 14 pts · 132d

Science doesn't need to be thanked. Science isn't an insecure "god".

And if there is a God or gods, I doubt they need to be thanked by the likes of us. It is us who benefits from our gratitude.

  • the scientists
osanna@lemmy.vg · 2 pts · 131d

It’s like when people survive natural disasters or illness or something, they thank god. Isn’t it god who, you know, gave you those problems?

finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Oh, Jesus ... they look like party balloons.

Nobody tell Hegseth!

fulcrummed@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 132d

Or Patel

rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Not a Kerbal was left behind

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 131d

Well, not a whole one

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 132d (3 replies)

Oh, they're back already?

Patrikvo@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Yeah, and the cheap bastards didn't even bring any souvenirs for us.

nutbutter@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 131d

Maybe they did, we will get to know about it in 6-7 years. :3

modus@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 132d

No. Just the re-entry capsule returned.

FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 132d (2 replies)

That was about as perfect as a test flight could be, they all did a hell of a job.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 131d (1 reply)

Says someone who had a toilet the last ten days

FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 131d

Mostly it was just priming the pump and tracing issues as they arose, like I said great test flight

Grass@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 132d (3 replies)

the local crazies are already trying to tell everyone that comes near about how the whole thing is a hoax

jivandabeast@lemmy.browntown.dev · 6 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Was at a sushi restaurant where they had it playing on the TV. Some guy got in front the tv and started screaming for them to turn it off because its propaganda and obviously fake.

Like five waiters went over, laughed at him, and then watched the landing

Earthman_Jim@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 132d

Laughing is 1000% the correct response.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 132d

because if they don't how will they prove that the original moon landing was a fraud.

FundMECFS@quokk.au · 3 pts · 132d (1 reply)

If you squint it looks like a christmas ornament (or perhaps I really should be wearing my glasses).

LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 132d

That reminds me. My family used to have a reentry vehicle Christmas ornament that would play audio from the Apollo missions and light up the cabin. Super cool

jeniferariza@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Why does this feel like the start of a horror movie 😭

osanna@lemmy.vg · 1 pts · 131d

Have you seen Life?

osanna@lemmy.vg · 2 pts · 131d

I love that so many people got excited over this, and no one gave a fuck about spacex. Fuckin Elon

Nasa isn't in charge of the files. Other things are happening that aren't connected.

FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 132d

How exactly would you like the Canadian Space Agency or ESA to handle the files? This wasn’t just an American flight and as others have said NASA has nothing to do with that
