I don't see this coming to fruition anytime soon (if ever).
Non-fptp voting for presidetial elections is also very unlikely.
Which is unfortunate (for both things).

It is moving slow, but the progress is substantial.
The Wikipedia article shows that it is currently being considered by legislatures in states having an additional 45 electors. It's a lot closer than I would have guessed.
