I tried most of the Paradox games before it became DLCdox. Victoria and HoI were too deep for my shallow heart, but I enjoyed the customization for Europa Universalis 4(custom nation almost anywhere) and Crusader kings 2(custom ruler). It's a shame their subscription method works and many comfortable noobs push it without a care for the consequences.
There's also Stellaris, which i tested at a friend who forgot they had a phallic type race mod installed. (Or were they hentai tentacles?...)
Am I high or is this chart messed up? Hoi is auth right for sure. Crusader kings is basically a soap opera generator, I wouldn't really put it on the compass

Vicky 1 supremacy! Vicky 2 was okay. Vicky 3 was broken.
I could never get into HOI, even though I bought HOI3 and HOI4 and tried to put the hours in. Too military, too strategic. I just want to RULE!

I might try Victoria again if the occasion syncs with the mood, but I agree with HoI being too in depth for general appreciation.
