Practically, that's not always true so I do think that it makes sense to disallow it case by case (area with high pedestrian traffic, obscured crossing), but overall it doesn't feel much worse than turning into a driveway across a sidewalk.

In real life, I've never met anyone on the left/far left who would use unemployment (especially under a capitalist-fascist hegemony) as a pejorative. The casting of unemployment as a personal failing and character flaw is a deeply capitalist narrative. The USSR, which they profess to support, widely publicized employment as a fundamental human right. It was in their Constitution!
So we have to consider: is this user dumb enough to think that furthering pro-capitalist fiction is praxis? Or are they not leftist at all, perhaps a false-flag agitant?
We just need a way to replace their real money with play money. One night we just disconnect their bank accounts, quietly move their beds into a Truman Show bubble and let them pretend they're running the world
Nowhere did I say voting was sufficient or that America could/should be what it was. But on November 3rd, my options are either
Allow them to solidify their power in the eyes of international observers by throwing away my vote
Force their coup to be explicit by making them use violence against people exercising their democratic right to voice their opposition.
By some sliver of a chance, potentially reduce their destructive power by installing the crumbling old guard in a temporary holding pattern.
Of those options, 3 is very obviously the least shitty one. And you said yourself, America won't be the same. Some of the people on the ballot are emphatically not the neolib old guard (hell, the dinosaurs are actively suppressing them) and have a growing base of support. My vote doesn't have to give them total power to fix America, It's worth 2 hours of my time to send a message.
Would be pretty straight forward if you're just looking at the agreements as signed. Turkey getting attacked has the option to call up NATO and this pact. Pakistan could call up Turkey but NATO would have no obligation to help. Pakistan attacking a NATO member would be the only real conflict, though these pacts are supposed to be defensive only to mitigate that.
To learn more about the specifics, I'd recommend spending 500 hours playing Crusader Kings, Hearts of Iron or equivalent Paradox games.
There's a big factor that i didn't see in my skim of the article: painting and repainting costs time and money. In the 60s, 70s and 80s consumers had the money to mess around with colors on a whim. You had the money to buy a new car and keep it in whatever condition you like. If you changed your mind later, nbd, just change it back.
These days I don't know anyone with a house (of those who can afford them) who can spend money on anything but the safest and most conservative options. Even if you put aside resale value of a home or vehicle, a daring color will probably fade or your tastes will change or it will clash with new surroundings or become hard to match as it's phased out of stock.
In 10 years I'll probably feel exactly the same about my off-white wall as I do now. It will look the same with basically any furniture. It might fade to a slightly different shade of unobtrusive white. Why would I spend my limited money to give my future self headaches? Just for a different vibe?
