Why is the Lemmy maskot/Logo a rat?

Also what does lemmy mean if it means anything. I don't know wtf reddit means either. Just a silly curiousity.

I think the name Lemmy comes from lemmings, a kind of rodent, aand, that probably answer both your questions right? That's what i think it is
