Plus I doubt many others in the back would be heading to Tony's office to beg for the chance to have Ace Fuckin' Steel be their producer in order to keep him on.
I was really hoping he would stick around, become a model employee to the point of being allowed backstage again, and then we would get to see Punk turn on him too.

Yeah, that's not surprising at all. He was given a phony make-work job just to appease Punk, and it is no longer necessary to appease Punk.
