I thought 800m was 800 miles at first... 800 metres less impressive.

Yeah, I read it as 800 meters and was like 'huh, that's the length of a really long drive way'

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 95d (2 replies)

it's half a mile.

BoosBeau@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 95d (1 reply)

or about 6500 cans of bud light lined up

Thank you, now I can actually conceive the distance

Imagine calling 999 to report being chased only for the operator to tell you that they're real police and they'd actually quite like you to pull over

x00z@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 95d

So you're telling me that this whole situation started when the drug unit police scared her?

Maybe they should stop doing that and go catch some actual criminals.

Can someone who has cakes like this tell me if this is bullshit?

Her defence counsel pleaded for leniency, saying she had been at a party earlier, had eaten a cake and was not aware there was cannabis in it.

spagbolioli@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 95d

can you get me their number while you are at it

This is one of those things where everyone will instinctively want to say "No way that could happen, everyone I know is super responsible and always makes sure the hash cakes are carefully labelled", but that presumes so much. Not just that the people she was with were responsible, but also that she didn't, I dunno, totally ignore a bunch of warnings or something.

Reality is, people do dumb shit. Any argument that depends on that not being true doesn't pass the sniff test.

khannie@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 95d (4 replies)

I wasn't thinking about labelling, more taste. Surely you'd know?

But it's a genuine question as I don't know

99.9% of commercial products are made using extracts rather than whole plant material, and extracts can be flavorless.

khannie@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 95d

It's a new world. Thanks for the info.

Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 95d (1 reply)

No, you wouldn't notice, especially if you didn't know what to look for. The flavour change is pretty subtle, especially in something like a chocolate brownie.

And the effects of edibles come on very, very sneakily. It generally takes around half an hour before you feel it at all, so it's very easy to not even realize you're high, especially if you weren't planning to be, and perhaps don't have much experience with cannabis. If she maybe ate two or three without knowing what they were, she could easily walk away from the party feeling fine only to end up completely whacked out of her gourd on the highway.

Nice one. Thanks. Good to know!

What a plank 😂

Half-a-mile-ish

Hell as a teen I would've done that on a dare. Granted it would've been on a back road somewhere...

khannie@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 96d

Yeah the feat itself isn't that impressive. This was in Dublin, going up the wrong side of the street and she crashed into another car near a bus stop that had people at it so.... Honestly fuck her.

Some guys tried to carjack me a few years ago and I just floored it, swerving and barely missing several parked cars. Afterward, I wondered if I would have had a legal defense had I not missed.

I hate driving but in that moment I understood racecar drivers. Felt like Spider-Man with my quick reflexes lol
