I feel the need to note that the "Independent State of Croatia" was likely (I am not a historian, take my statement with a grain of Carthage) neither independent, nor a state, nor truly Croatia. It's also explicitly rejected by the Croatian constitution.
The meme still kinda fits tho. It's complicated and I wish luck to anyone diving into the subject.
I'll always find it amusing, albeit concerning, when other countries deny crimes done to them by other countries, especially when said other country has been open and remorseful about it.

Yeah, NDH isn't today's Croatia. Another "fun" thing to look up is what happened in the early 90s. Plenty of dead and displaced people on both sides.
