Sometime 10 or 15 years so people just started to go crazy and you couldn't drive a car with 150k miles on it for some reason.

You don't need a 40k car with zero down.

Age and neglect is what really kills cars. All the rubber parts start to fall apart and the frame starts to rust pretty badly. A 7 year old car is usually the sweet spot, then you can keep it going for another ten or so years before you start fighting entropy. Unless of course you live somewhere without rust, then age doesn't matter as much.
