What state is he from?

phobos@lemmy.ca · 26 pts · 87d

Based on the license plates he regularly displays in his channel plus his comments that he lives in proximity to Chicago; he lives in Illinois.

finalarbiter@piefed.social · 16 pts · 87d

He's mentioned in some videos that he lives in the Chicago area. It usually comes up when talking about electrical work in his home, since building code in Chicagoland generally requires all electrical runs in conduit.

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 87d

Knowing nothing about him, he's got upper Midwest energy. Probably Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Hey, that looks like a demonstration of an open differential in a Nissan Cube! Seems like that would make for an excellent introduction into how a Toyota eCVT hybrid transmission functions similarly to a differential but with electric motor/generators instead of wheels.

Cort@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 87d (1 reply)

I thought he did do that in the connextras video

TheRealKuni@piefed.social · 1 pts · 87d

Oh he did that in the main video. 🤣

Your bluetooth is running out

rapchee@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 87d (6 replies)

in case you're not trolling, it's the sound volume

protist@retrofed.com · 20 pts · 87d (3 replies)

Are you sure it's not low bluetooth? 🤔

JoMiran@lemmy.ml · 9 pts · 87d (2 replies)

I can never find my Bluetooth charging cable when I need it, so I keep buying new ones. Where are they hiding?

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 87d

Someone is pulling your leg. Bluetooth is wireless so there's no charging cable. Rest the phone on the charger and it will wirelessly charge the Bluetooth.

supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 87d

They are inside your teeth hence the name "Bluetooth". You gotta crack em open to get the wires.

markz@suppo.fi · 11 pts · 87d (1 reply)

Phones don't "run out" of sound

general_kitten@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 87d

they absolutely do, what do you think tooth fairies are for

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 87d (2 replies)

I dont know why but almost all my screenshots include the volume slider.

glibg10b@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 87d

You're pressing the buttons in the wrong order. The volume button goes last

isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 87d

Skill issue

Or finicky volume rocker

IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 87d

Watch his earlier videos to see the importance of comedic timing. he had similar jokes at the beginning but little comedic timing, by now he has perfected it.

SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 14 pts · 87d (8 replies)

Is Alec on the fediverse? Feels like something he would be in to

missphant@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 17 pts · 87d (7 replies)

He's on Mastodon (@TechConnectify@mas.to) but he mostly talks on bsky nowadays.

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 87d (6 replies)

Iirc he was not happy with the fediverse experience for someone with a large following, which is really too bad. He tried for a long time but got tired of the abuse.

TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 87d (1 reply)

I really don't think the fediverse can really work for celebrity microblogging. Corpo platforms inherently value reach and boosting popular users, while the fediverse has no profit incentive to appeal to them. It's why I always liked the idea of lemmy over mastadon: conversations matter more than personalities

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 87d

He didn't have problems with reach he had problems with abuse, if memory serves. Some other big accounts say similar things.

I also don't think the fediverse works for someone trying to "go viral" or farm engagement or whatever.

cloudskater@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 87d (3 replies)

How'd he get abused?

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 86d (2 replies)

Online abuse can refer to nasty comments. Here is a thread about it: https://pawb.social/post/17092569

Pulling out another one: https://mas.to/@TechConnectify/113056731556590285

cloudskater@piefed.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 85d (1 reply)

Its unfortunate that he encountered some shitty mods, but his responses to that commenter are really ignorant. "FLOSS-brained" says it all. Jesus.

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 85d

I think the context was him being fed up with Foss evangelists in his replies but I agree.

sexy_peach@feddit.org · 11 pts · 87d (1 reply)

Third wheel?

cybervseas@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 87d

I feel like he'd make any date I go on more interesting if I could convince him to come with.

leggysnakegirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 87d

I was waiting for the moment when his little cutout there would start spinning too.

regdog@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 85d (1 reply)

Which video is that? I cant find it on https://www.youtube.com/@TechnologyConnections/videos

regdog@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 85d
