Is it Jay day?

Great Lakes region, USA. May 2026.

I haven't had much luck with blue jays yet this year. I do like this photo, but I know I'll get better ones in the near future.

The blue and yellow is beautiful. I love ‘peaking eye’ shots like this

I liked that one a lot too. I just wish it was a bit sharper. It's like spying on the bird. The yellow flowers add a lot too. I'm going to try to get a better version of this shot soon.

Watched two of these clowns wreck havoc in my bean patch a few days ago by ripping up seedlings! Beautiful but spicy little things

Dang, that's shitty. They can definitely be assholes. Beautiful and intelligent birds, but they don't always use it for good.

The second one is quite nice.

I never have luck with jays, either. It's like they know I'm pointing a camera at them.

Thanks, they're both a tad bit soft, but acceptable. Yeah jays are smart and wary. I haven't built a report with them so they're skittish. Given enough time and frequency they will become friendly though.
