I'm never usually an early access person, but Unknown Worlds has a proven track record. They've released two games from early access after a very open development period. Plus they fuck over Krafton if it sells well, so win win IMHO.
Oh no, I don't worry they won't finish it. I worry playing half a game 5 times and starting again for every "new cup added" update ๐
Like I did with the previous titles.
I just want a complete run "for the first time" this time.
I really do not care about the price. I even wondered why it's cheap-ish at all. This game will most likely bring tons of fun hours like no other games do. Really worth every cent.
Also i bought it on all accounts already, i will just try to restrain myself from installing or even playing....maybe...hopefully. :-)
I learned my lesson with Palworld. I wonโt play games until full release because you invest time into a game and then a large update releases 6 months after Iโm playing something else. Then you jump back in and have to relearn everything again!
Exactly. Plus the "omg look at that!" Is gone. Subnautica had such awesome jaw-dropping moments and environments and especially aurally...
I killed a lot of it by cutting the experience in pieces...
Aye, I remember trying subnautica on my friend's computer, and being happy enough with the game as it was then to buy it. That's still my 'test' for buying early access games: would I be happy if the developers literally died today and nothing more was done with it, OR is it less than $5 and I'm really happy with what progress has been made towards the game that I want?
Krafton. They pretty much tried to sabotage Subnautica 2 to make sure they wouldn't need to pay out 250 million to the development studio. It went to court and the judge pretty much told Krafton to suck it. It was such a stupid move that after the successful early access launch Krafton stock actually went down instead of up.
Thanks for the refresher. That was a period when I didn't read much news and missed the details. So buying the game is okay then. :-) Will put it to wishlist now.
This is how I'm thinking about it. Plus, I can buy the game and play it once it's completed. There is no obligation to play it the second I download it
Good luck! I couldn't hold out and I hope I don't regret it too much. The game is already good but I'm trying to give useful feedback so it'll be even better for everyone later.
That's a lot of sales. I was going to wait, but it was a slow day at work, so my boss bought and played it the moment it went live. After seeing him play, I wanted it too. I bought it that night. I didn't factor it into my decision buy, but I take joy at imagining certain dickheads at Krafton watching those sales numbers shoot up.
Unless Krafton can successfully appeal the court decision (which I doubt they can) they have a deal with Unknown worlds that if Subnautica 2 meets certain time-sensitive revenue milestones Krafton has pay Unknown worlds $250 million. In short, if Subnautica 2 does well in early access Krafton gets fucked.
I had heard about the deal during the drama but I thought it was just development milestones. Very well, I'll do my part ๐ซก (insert starship troopers gif here)
Not sure. I haven't found a credible number on how much revenue they need to hit for the bonus as most news sites don't seem to mention it. The only number I found was around 70 million in revenue but because I only saw it on one smaller site I don't know how trustworthy that number is.

I...will....stay....strong. No playing before a year after release. 100% done and with mods. Already bought on all accounts...

Well it's usually cheaper during early access. I got the game for $32, so you could just grab it and then wait for full release.

I'm glad this is heading in a good direction. Im not strong enough to wait a full year past release but I will at least wait until the 1.0 release.

How far to the maximum Krafton loss point is the sales number right now?
I'll consider buying it a month or so before the payout cutoff point if it doesn't reach maximum Krafton loss.

I liked the first one, didn't play Below Zero.
How is 2 so far? How does it compare?
