Good luck getting a Blu-Ray drive for a decent price. They're crazy expensive, and I don't think they even make them for PCs anymore.

Oh shit, what happened? A bit over 6 months ago I got a Verbatim 4K USB-drive for ~105€, now that same model is 150-250€

Oh shit, what happened?

Most (all?) of them went out of production, or will be out of production soon.

On top of that, LTT did a video about ripping BlueRay, which always fucks with the market

I don't remember how long ago I last checked, but I remember them being expensive well over six months ago. The price you quoted, 105 EUR, comes out to around $168.71 CAD, which is similar to what I remember seeing.

Sure would be a shame if they listed drivers that custom firmware could be installed on. I’m looking for an external drive for my Macs to share.

An ad for what? The open source firmware? Having an optical drive?

cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 111d (7 replies)

Kind of on you. I’m on an iPhone — arguably, the worst way to browse the web due to how locked down iOS is — and I didn’t see ads. I use Wipr2, which cost $4.99, but it’s a solo developer who uses the Fediverse. Every other platform can use Firefox and uBlock Origin.

You have no idea what ad placement is, do you

athatet@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 111d (5 replies)

Please explain it to us.

When the mommy ad is the entire daddy video, they create a video soley to sell a product.

So I clicked on the article and it’s an article. Like to read. Idk what video you’re talking about.

I guess there is a video in the article but just like, don’t watch it?

It doesn't even matter anymore. I don't even remember what this was about

I strongly recommend using an ad blocking extension in your web browser. I use WBlock because I use Apple software but I hear good things about uBlock. 👀

TachyonTele@piefed.social · -1 pts · 111d (2 replies)

You want the entire video blocked?

misk@piefed.social · -3 pts · 111d (1 reply)

I pay for YouTube Premium because hosting and streaming video costs money and I want creators to be able to sustain themselves ✌️

TachyonTele@piefed.social · 4 pts · 111d

Ok that has nothing to do with this, but alright
