No! No it is not! What is wrong with you!? An 8 year old is a child. That's on the adults raising the child, not the child.

saturn57@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 81d

That is almost always correct, but I think in this case a future astronaut would have been the kind of kid to say no, regardless of what their parents are doing.

Viceversa@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 81d

As an 8 year old child I had a brain and some agency over myself. Not all is on parents.

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 80d

I feel like it's mostly on the shitty parents

Pfft! The astronaut path should be way more vertical.

When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut. Then I learned you need to join the military and be in peak physical condition. So I decided to be an office worker instead.

Then ChatGPT stole My job. I guess I should have had lower expectations.

Then I learned you need to join the military and be in peak physical condition.

Some of the later astronauts seem to be not in peak physical condition.

BackgrndNoize@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 80d (1 reply)

And yet they achieved far more than you will in your entire life

Viceversa@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 80d

There's no doubt in that. But what is your point?

DisasterTransport@startrek.website · 6 pts · 81d (3 replies)

my question is how are you gonna be an astronaut without getting high?

SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 81d (1 reply)

The crash as an astronaut is worse though
