Thanks for the link! For those that didn't want to look at a 100+ page study, a few takeaways:

  • this is from 2014

  • they looked at this from a few angles: film/TV, games, books, and music.

  • they had conclusions for each media type. For example, from the Conclusions section: "The low willingness to pay any price suggests that if the film or TV-series were no longer illegally available, they would not have downloaded the film or TV-series from a pay site."

  • Music at €0.90 wasn't too expensive for folks (so they wouldn't pirate a ton)

  • Confirmed Gabe's sentiment that "Piracy is a service problem" with books. If books went out of print, they found that Piracy should go up.

Since some groups refuse to move off of Facebook, I use an add on to force anything tied to Facebook to its own tab container on Firefox. This is in addition to tampermonkey, ublock, and like 5 other things. I still feel like it's not enough. They are a privacy nightmare, even on other sites.

Fair. I'm thinking about a mini-ITX build partially for the fun of it, partially because space is at a premium in my setup. I don't need to move this around much, but do care about the design a bit.

Otherwise, fair points on the sound management. I don't think it needs to be super quiet, but relative to a PS5 at full blast, thinking that's the sound limit.

Kicks, the European beauty brand, is owned by Matas. Coincidence? I think not.

Damn. How can they keep pushing the same legislation until it passes?

Also, what's next for privacy focused people? It says there's an exemption for E2E encryption, but isn't Meta conveniently getting rid of that for WhatsApp soon?

The space has gotten very interesting since like 2020. I really like Mash Gang, but they're a bit hard to find where I am and they've simplified a lot.

I also like Athletic brewery and even the big brands are now making low / NA versions of their stuff.
