With the help of a friend who re-did my resume, and their insistence. I've applied for my dream job whose applications closed today. I wouldn't have done it without their help. Thank you friend.

I have decided that what I really want to eat right now is a parmigana lasagne. Layers of chicken schnitzel, with tomato sauce, ham and cheese between them, topped with bechemal sauce, sprinkled with cheese and baked until golden. Obviously to be served with lots of perfectly hot and crispy chips.

Had a first date with a really lovely girl this weekend.

We both had fun and she made sure to tell me so and spoke about catching up again in the future a few times.

I waited a day to ask if she wanted to hang out next weekend and she says that sheโ€™s super busy that weekend, sorry. No suggestion of when she might be free or anything.

Am I reading too much into it thinking maybe sheโ€™s not interested? I just took what she said at face value and went with it but part of me wonders if sheโ€™s just not interested but wants to be polite.

Any suggestions? I donโ€™t want to come across as needy or anything like that.

wscholermann@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 2y (7 replies)
[ removed ]
hasteee@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y (6 replies)

I thought it sounded like being brushed off too.

Youโ€™d think if she was interested she would suggest another time.

Bit weird because weโ€™ve been talking a bunch both before and after but I havenโ€™t really said much other than suggesting we play a game we both like and she kinda brushed that off too saying she was hungover.

Might just have to leave it.

fullkitwanker@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (5 replies)

Have you been talking recently? How's she sounding via texts n such?

hasteee@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Lots of exclamation points in her texts and excitement, just how she was on our first date.

Today sheโ€™s been a bit low on communicating but yesterday (day after our date) she was pretty talkative. Iโ€™m willing to put it down to being her being hungover today as Iโ€™m trying to trust people again!

Yesterday immediately after the date (midnight or so) she was the one to initiate conversation and thank me for having her around and say that she had lots of fun, etc. I suggested that we play a game together at some point and she sounded really keen, lots of exclamation points and was pretty emphatic about it.

I should say this is the second time Iโ€™ve met her (first was through a meet up group) and so weโ€™ve been talking for a few weeks now and sheโ€™s kept a pretty high interest level from my point of view at least until today when I asked her out again.

I was supposed to take her out for dinner for the date but she suggested that she just came around instead which worked for me. At the very least I know sheโ€™s comfortable around me but yeah just a bit unsure how to handle it.

fullkitwanker@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I think you might be reading too much into it. From what you've said, she definitely is keen on you. I understand you're anxious (I'm a super anxious person as well) but give it some time, just keep talking to her without pushing to meet and maybe she'll bring it up! She probably had a bad day or is hungover or whatever, there's probably 100s of reasons why she wasn't as talkative. Give it some time, hopefully it works out for you mate! Keen to hear updates!!

hasteee@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Thanks mate, from what you and Pilk have said better off just playing it cool and letting it flow.

Iโ€™m all for that, just wanted to make sure I wasnโ€™t actually getting a solid no.

Yep, Iโ€™m a worrier. Guilty as charged.

Iโ€™ll post updates as they roll in.

Love you guys and thanks!

Pilk@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Seems to me like you're giving up way too easily.

Don't do that before you decide to ask a much more direct question about your status together. There is literally nothing to lose.

"Hey, I'm not sure if you're still keen to hang out again. I'd like to, what are your thoughts?"

Edit: And just read your other comments. It's still way too early. You're overthinking it. Don't listen to the DT's resident pessimist.

hasteee@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

OK thanks Pilk, Iโ€™ll keep that in mind as well.

I guess we just keep talking organically and if a second date happens it happens.

Alternatively I could be more direct with her say tomorrow when sheโ€™s not hungover and see what she says.

I do like the idea of being direct about it all. Weโ€™re grown ups after all.

EDIT: As fullkit and yourself have suggested Iโ€™ll just let things roll and not read into it at all for now. See where the conversation moves to next and see if she suggests anything!

hasteee@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

So I asked what you suggested and she just wants to be friends. Time to move on. Thanks for your advice.

Pilk@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Hoi DT. We are in need of ideas for a fancy dress. The theme is wide ranging. Someone from 80s, 90s, 00s.

There are two teenage girls going who would like to be in theme together (as in a pair) e.g. Kurt Cobain/Courtney Love.

Edit: Dressing as male is not an issue, dressing as two female characters might be more comfortable.

Bear in mind they would need to be recognizable by kids the same age so nothing too esoteric

The cling film bit works on ovens too. Only thing I would say is that if the enamel of the stove is cracked or chipped, then ammonia will make a bad situation worse.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

I've been dashing around doing laundry, and tidying (not that the place looks that much better for it!) Then decided we needed to go shopping so the Minipeelers decided we were going to Broady. (They had Schnitz and other treats on their minds I think). I wanted to try the Choice rated Aldi laundry powder (it was actually very good, I did another load of washing when I came home) and dishwasher tablets (haven't tried them yet). We also did Schnitz, Kmart (Eldest needed shorts for school), Coles (Miniest likes a cheese that is only sold there, the Great Ocean Road Extra Tasty, and parbake mini croissants are also her lunchbox addiction), EB Games (Eldest wanted to give Skyrim a go). I've walked for hours, then got home and remembered I hadn't done my exercises today, so I did those. Miniest wanted to make guacamole (to go with the baguette she also wanted because she rarely meets a bread she doesn't like) so we did that. Now I'm resting before sorting dinner out. I tell ya, I don't feel like cooking that's for sure, but it'll be sausages so nice and simple.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I would buy them and take them home. Then get a lasagna tray and make the lasagna. Let it set and then you can make slices of it!!

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y

Let it set and make slices? But the plan is to create a ludicrously tall pile of cheese and sauce covered parmigana and gorge myself immediatedly on it in its entirety. I was willing to forgoe the cheese sauce topping to make said gorging faster, extra waiting seems counter productive.

I like the decor. Donโ€™t usually venture out that way, but might be worth a sticky beak in the future.

I feel like taking a day off tomorrow.

I wonder if itโ€™s easy enough to get a doctorโ€™s certificate through Telehealth appointment just because Iโ€™m fatigued and need a dayโ€™s extra rest.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (3 replies)

It's so easy. "Mental Health day" is really all you need to tell the doc :)

Duenan@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Iโ€™ve never tried that before.

I donโ€™t go to the doctors much so I havenโ€™t ever been just a day off.

StudChud@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Instant Scripts - $19 for a med cert, just list depression and anxiety, not enough sleep/insomnia, and general unwellness as the reason.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y

Thanks.

For now Iโ€™ll use one of my cert free days off since I have no money free at the moment.

Iโ€™ll keep that in mind for next time!

For anyone with a music streaming service I guess, I would highly recommend an artist radio based on a woman called Honi Gordon. She has (had most likely) some amazing pipes, and the algorithm works afterwards for a very classy whimsy evening.

Ok look, i grew up with a cat. We've had three for years. I'm well used to the sad inevitability of scootch trails.

It's when they start next to the human toilet i get nervous.
