I'm glad it's pride month, because this post is gay.

Also fake, pretty sure the blades are made of fiberglass or some such.

jlow@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 79d (2 replies)

Yeah, aren't they more of a big (micro) plastic (producing) fan?

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 78d (1 reply)

Do they really produce microplastics? Like more than a Doritos bag factory or something?

ignotum@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 77d

The wind carries dust and particles that impact the blades and slowly chips off the paint and eventually the fiberglass, which includes some kind of resin

It's not a particularly fast process though so i don't think it's a big concern, probably miniscule compared to the crazy amount of microplastics produced by vehicle tyres

I’m a huge flaming fan.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 79d (5 replies)

Aren't those mostly fiberglass composites?

nexguy@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 79d

"I'm a fiberglass wind turbine" is a better punchline

basxto@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 79d

the tower is reinferced concrete. Only the blades have that issue

Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 79d (2 replies)

The tower is usually metal.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 79d (1 reply)

And how about unusually?

DisasterTransport@startrek.website · 6 pts · 78d

Well unusually it could be made of anything else, couldn't it? Think about a windmill made of cocaine. That would be highly unusual.

!dadjokes@lemmy.world would like this.
