'Atrocious': Wellington's deputy mayor slams $600,000 bill for library website

https://www.tematapihi.govt.nz/ is the website.

I've had a quick poke around, lots of animations that are slow to load, very flashy website, doesn't seem very well adapted to mobile. Pretty annoying to navigate, to be honest.

And doesn't load a single damn thing if you've got noscript. Fun!

I wish more public websites were designed to work without JavaScript. I can’t imagine older adults with legacy devices enjoying this website at all.

Funny how they have this accessibility button at the top now. All it does is to disable colours and some animations.

Today’s webpages really don’t need all that JavaScript. Modern HTML and CSS have pretty much caught up at this point. Do a quick internet search for “You really don’t need all that JavaScript” for more details, including a famous lecture about it posted on YouTube.

This library/city got ripped off.

I think it's a very pretty website. Was it worth it? Probably not

Visually, it's pretty cool, although I haven't looked at it on desktop yet. Functionality, it's terrible at conveying information.
