I feel like cooking involves heat that induces some change in the substance (like melting cheese in a grilled cheese), but I'm not going to tell anyone making me food that they're wrong!
My gay cousins and uncles paved the way for me so the biggest issue was coming out as treyf. We're Reform, though, so they were a bit confused at first but ultimately supportive.
