Have seen this firsthand at the place I work, but for backfills, not even additional staff (haha as if they would increase headcount)…. But the trick really is that they’re hiring temp heads in an attempt to outsource more roles without making redundancies.

Yeah, this has been going on since way before the conflict in the middle east. Temporary workers are basically a loophole to get around labour rights
