Glad to know I’m not alone, I don’t really understand why humanity has made things so hard for humanity at times… surely this can’t also be linked to greed like so many other issues?!? 😅😅
Sort of okay? I found out I didn’t get one job I interviewed for but got invited to a second interview for another one (although the pay isn’t as good).
The first place said that they are about to launch a new role that would suit me though so I must’ve done something okay?
I find interviews so hard… anyone else with ADHD out there that has any tips? 😅😅
In addition to what @ThunderQueen@lemmy.world has already said… a lot of restaurants also have a tip-out system, wherein the servers have to pay a % of each table’s sales into a shared tip fund to cover bussing, bar staff, the hosts and sometimes kitchen staff. So while I completely agree with the premise, it’s not great to cost your server money when they are often on $2-3/hr.
The last time I was a server in the US we had to tip out 3% of sales to others, but I’m not sure what the industry average is now.
I also agree there are probably ideas out there that would revolutionise things in a great way (possibly globally?)which would be amazing! Human ingenuity is both incredible and terrifying 😅
If price were the only issue sure, but there are a many other problems - oh you went to the ER? Or you picked a specific hospital/surgeon for something? Too bad, this one doctor isn’t in network.
You can only have a specific version of a medication because another is ineffective or you have an allergy or adverse reaction? Well that sucks, your insurance only covers this one type.
Your doctor ordered a specific set of tests? Your insurer can decide that they’re not medically necessary and overrule your doctor.
And so on… when the required amount of regulation is so vast that it touches every part of the system because it is just that bad…. Surely universal healthcare is the better option at that point?
Have seen this firsthand at the place I work, but for backfills, not even additional staff (haha as if they would increase headcount)…. But the trick really is that they’re hiring temp heads in an attempt to outsource more roles without making redundancies.
Oh goodness!! Hopefully she is all recovered now, I know it can be a bit stressful when they are dealing with that and not allowed to run like crazy for a bit!!
Yes he (Pickle) is an iggy but he is only 7 months old (despite being massive in comparison to the other one who is just over a year).
The smaller one (Devon) is just a tiny one in general, we went to an iggy meet-up the other week and I was shocked to see him compared to pretty much all the others 😅😅
What breed is yours? And also have you found that she gets more dark spots (freckles I guess) when she is in the sun a lot? Mine is young and I’ve been trying to keep sunscreen on him but I’m scared he will get burned or something with his light skin!
I am 100% one of those people that other folks think is “ambitious” but honestly I just say what I think people want to hear about my career aspirations or whatever, and I don’t seem to understand what level of effort folks put into their work so I just burn myself out by trying to keep all the damn plates spinning.
This general issue mixed with some recent comments by our CEO as well as overall policy things just makes me hate my job. I joined this company because there was a huge focus on people first. It was a great culture with high camaraderie and management seemed to care (or at least to do things that made it seem like that), but over the last two years it’s like the claws of our US overlords have really dug in and we are now America-lite* as an entity.
So I am tired, and I am tired of pushing myself to this point and yet I can’t seem to stop myself. When I am working I don’t feel like it’s acceptable to let anything drop, so instead I am just irritable and miserable when I finish work until I have a good bit of *dissociation time~~*
*nb I am American but have lived in the UK for 13 years now and this particular regression toward American-style workplaces really gets to me.
I had this with Elvanse and went back down a few doses and it was okay. YMMV, but I will say that feeling as though I was a walking black hole was a crazy and terrifying experience.

Grew up in the US (the Deep South)… moved to England, have been here for like a bajillion years and unfortunately still sound American 😕
But for me it is crisps. Why do we have to say this word when it is so awkward?!?
Annoying but it’s a start in the right direction.
It’s ridiculous anyway that federal minimum wage is still $7.25 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Can cities not set their own? Federal minimum wage is the floor if the local legislation doesn’t set a minimum.
Welcome to ADHD life.. collecting hobbies is a good way of wording this aspect of it 🤣🤣

Has it? I am using it right now… how strange.

Excellent advice, thank you so much!!
That’s a great mix, have fun 😊😊

Adorable!!
Absolutely!! 25mph couch potato this one 🤣🤣
Appreciate the support ❤️
Loads of folks in the same mental boat, but we’ve had about 10 leavers (~25%) of the core team that was there when I started in the last 18 months.
I have started applying for stuff but finding a new job right now is such a mess as well 😅😅
Rest… and how demotivated I am at work.
