It's 99% done. I cut the platform panels an inch too wide, so I'll need to rip those down. That's a PIA, because the only way I have to do that is to lay them out on the driveway on a sheet of foam insulation and cut it with the circular saw.
The Vevor pocket hole jig worked perfectly. It's the first time I've used one. I picked the Vevor over the Kreg because the Vevor is made of machined aluminum instead of plastic and was also cheaper. Recommended.
If I were going to do it again I'd build it almost entirely out of plywood and hire someone with a big CNC router to cut the parts. I just didn't think of it till after I started, even though I used a 5' X 10' Multicam CNC router at my last job. I only thought about how I could build it with the tools I had. Man, it would have been so much easier, would have come out nicer, and probably wouldn't have cost too much more.

My parents grew up during the Great Depression. We had a second full-size freezer in the kitchen full of food. I don't do that, but I do tend to keep things I use in stock, I guess I got it from my parents.

While we are judging OPs garage space can we get an explanation of why it was appropriate to put 50 gallons of gas fired hot water up on a custom wood stand?

That "custom wood stand" is required by code for gas water heaters, and came with the house. It's pretty damn sturdy. I think it's about keeping the ignition source above gas vapors.

It's solid wood, and very heavy. I expect it to be stable and quiet.
This is the rail hardware, the two big screws can be tightened to make a firm connection, and I used better screws than what came with it to mount the pieces.

Yeah, it's for a queen size bed, which is 60" wide. Can't get the platform out of one sheet of 4X8, so I had to cut two pieces with a seam down the middle that rests on the center rail.
The mattress is rated by the manufacturer to sit on a solid platform, and I'm in NM where humidity is low, so mold isn't a big problem here.
