The commentary is also better on Telemundo:

Telemundo, the World Cup’s Spanish-language broadcaster in the US, did not cut away to full-screen advertising during the hydration breaks.

I'm in the Netherlands and the public broadcaster here also shows ads the whole break. It's fucking infuriating, I'm so mad at it and really hope it doesn't catch on. I fear for the worst.

I watch the BBC or Sporza (Belgium), they don't have any ads. With a VPN it works fine.

I used to keep a cable subscription around (sling.tv) specifically to watch Doctor Who as it came out. BBC America made a 45 minute episode last 1.5 hours because of all the advertising they crammed in. Worse: they would just randomly break up the scene, even one of high intensity, to shove in an ad. I literally cancelled cable because of this nonsense. It was better for me to wait a week and buy the episode on Amazon Prime--cheaper too--than suffer through the commercials.

Much of the problem falls on FOX, but also to people who keep a cable subscription going and supporting idiots like them.
