HOW can they DISAPPROVE? He's doing EXACTLY what he Promised them he WOULD!

arctanthrope@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 55d

they didn't realize that politics happens to actual people, much less that they could be those people. it's just on the TV like football, and they wanted to see their team win

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · 33 pts · 55d (6 replies)

That it's a statistical tie is fucking insane and tells you just how much propaganda these people consume.

I know because I live in rural America. These people are my neighbors and coworkers. Most of them are good people who are just lied to by every single authority figure and institution in their lives. The rest are exactly as Mrs Clinton described them. Hard to know which is which until it's too late, sadly.

These people are legit propagandized and lied to by everyone in their life. The local news, the national news, their preachers, their elected officials (it's a 1-party state where they live,) their friends, their families, their coworkers, their bosses, their whoever.

It does not excuse the racism and lord help me i do not know how i possess the will NOT to hit them sometimes when they go on anti-trans rants, because these people could absolutely lynch someone and not feel bad about it. They start getting agitated about "boys" playing girls sports and I pray for the earth to swallow these idiots up.

But anyway, maybe it does explain why it's hard to get through to them even when reality is dick-slapping them square in the jaw over and over and over. They don't really have a chance to know any better.

So...down to 50% approval? If that holds, Democrats will win a couple senate seats in red states and the house margins might be big enough to actually fucking DO something with a majority.

Maybe they were good people at some point, but not anymore. By definition.

Good of you to judge people you don't know, based on some irrelevant criteria, while ignoring any evidence to the contrary.

Same goddamn thing the Republicans do, so great job there. Good behavior to emulate.

Wrufieotnak@feddit.org · 4 pts · 54d

No. Voting for capital E Evil is a very relevant criteria.

That they are lied to and propaganda shaped their lifes can still also be true. But you are still responsible for your actions. And voting is a very important and powerful one.

And that they can still be nice to their neighbours and be friendly and helpful to the right people can also still be true with the above fact.

Because as a German I can tell you: those things are not mutually exclusive. Germany under the Nazis still had "normal people" who were friendly to their (aryan, non jewish or foreign) neighbours, but they still mostly supported a regime that led to the death of millions. And we don't call them good people for good reasons.

the house margins might be big enough to actually fucking DO something with a majority.

"“Now, the Freedom of Choice Act is not my highest legislative priority,” Obama said. “I believe that women should have the right to choose, but I think that the most important thing we can do to tamp down some of the anger surrounding this issue is to focus on those areas that we can agree on. And that’s where I’m going to focus.”

President Change We Can Believe In, with a majority, folks.

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · -4 pts · 54d (1 reply)

Thanks for the Whataboutism, but you didn't actually address a goddamn thing that WE were talking about.

So uhh, thanks for less than nothing.

GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 53d

You seem fun. Reading compensation ain't your strong suit, eh?

You think a majority is all it takes to "get things done...?"

Trump's approval rating among rural Americans dropped in June to a new low of 50%

Still too high.

"My day to day is negatively impacted and I haven’t seen these other benefits."

LAMF, they're not hurting the right people, etc. I'm just so tired of these people ...

Rural Americans keeping the curve nice and flat

panda_abyss@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 55d

20% of them switched to not approving. That’s 1/5.

But iPod charts are fucking trash. You can’t include confidence intervals on interpolation splines like that. Those don’t look like restricted cubic splines or b splines, and that chart is not a dense lowess chart.

They strangle the fuck out of that data to hide that they have like 8 data points.

switcheroo@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 55d (1 reply)

They'll still vote for whoever has an R after their name...

moncharleskey@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 55d

Nah, voter apathy is a thing. I had one guy tell me he wasn't going to voter anymore so he wouldn't be responsible for whatever happens. This came from someone that was wearing amaga hats and had signs all in his yard. All gone now. Obviousky there are die hards, but some people are cracking and I welcome it enthusiasticly.

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 55d

If this, and all the other stats coming out of the USA, doesn't explain to you how deeply indoctrinated and mentally ill conservatives are, nothing will.

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 55d (2 replies)

Am I the only one finding the credibility of these polls to be suspect?

OwOarchist@pawb.social · 6 pts · 55d (1 reply)

How are they getting polling data from people like me? I don't answer the phone for unknown numbers. Texts from uknown numbers get blocked. Unsolicited mail goes straight into the trash, unopened. Email from senders I haven't whitelisted automatically goes to spam. I don't answer the door if I don't know who's knocking. All my browsers are adblocked to hell and back.

For me and people like me, there's absolutely no way to get polling data about us.

"You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons."

KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org · 4 pts · 55d

Face it... they're this fucking slow. A couple more decades and they can be overheard saying "I think that trump fella ISN'T the greatest president of all time."

Raiderkev@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 54d

To.be fair, this was before we got the America 250 spectacular last night. Now surely those idiots have forgotten all about Iran and inflation and they are back on the Trump train because they have the memory of a goldfish.

stretch2m@infosec.pub · 1 pts · 55d

It always depresses me that his approval rate isn't zero.
