There's been so much incredible footage come out of Russia the last few days. The oil tank, multiple MANPAD missiles turning ninety degrees and heading for the nearest fire, civilians driving in front of soldiers firing machine guns.
I've heard that this was a MANPAD and that it was a Pantsir. Do we have any info that would indicate which?
I'm inclined to think Pantsir, because whatever fired that missile was close to the refinery and you'd expect beefier defenses close in. Plus, even the Orks must realize the risk in giving private Conscripavitch a rocket launcher in proximity to thousands of gallons of oil.
basically I read a bunch of reddit comments under like 8 different posts of the various videos released
There was one thread where they attempted to actually geolocate who/what did it and he had a map with lines on it and said the first video wasn't the guy but he thinks the second video released was so I used the second video for https://lemmy.world/post/48409971
tbh even if it's not 100% accurate regarding MANPAD vs Pantsir it's still funny to me :)
I do find it interesting how both missiles seem to jackknife 90 degrees after coming out as well which (again according to reddit) may be a flaw based on the factory making them

In https://lemmy.world/post/48409971 you can see the where's wally/red and white tower next to the refinery in the background when firing the MANPAD so there's a good chance poor private Conscripavitch is on his way to the front line in Ukraine right now 😅

Pantsir is a radar guided system, skimming the Wikipedia page doesn't bring anything up about heat seeking missiles. So, likely a heat seeking MANPAD.
