Something tells me the people that drop these off aren't entirely sure what they've got, just 'random metal object I don't need/want'.
I doubt people think a recycling center should have/know what to do with explosives...

All right then, in which bin should I put that unexploded Luftwaffe 500-pounder, then?
Very near my house, a few years ago, someone uncovered one of those in a brownfield site that was being redeveloped, leading to some specialists evacuating the neighbourhood and doing a controlled demolition that rattled my windows and could be heard a couple of miles away.
The odd mortar round in Newton Scabbott is small potatoes compared to that.

Write "return to sender" on it and drop it off at your local post office.

They're actually kind of shit. It's one of those generic "local news" site with very little local content that's worth reading.

I assume they're talking about aerosol spray cans?

In this case, it was the business end of an artillery shell.

Stop throwing away 90% of the recyclables!
Also, stop blaming your customers for the waste in the first place!
