Banned from r/onguardforthee for 193 days for posting a petition that was actually popular with the community

Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?

Unsure as it only shows mod team.

What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?

Post removal and an over the top ban length.

Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).

This isn't possible on Reddit.

Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).

It's such a strong response for just posting a simple petition when I saw another one that was left up days ago. The post should've just been removed for violating rule 4. But you know Reddit moderators...

my thing is that this is a case where the rule itself is power trippy. yeah you broke it, so technically YDI but spiritually PTB

Update: it was lowered to a month, still excessive but much more reasonable.

You're supposed to magically know the timezone the mod lives in and time any rule violations during hours when the moderator isn't sleeping, duh!

The fuckin' audacity to take the posting of this petition as a personal slight based on the timing instead of just... Assuming that's when the poster happened to be online

the mods act like theyre actually reddit employees and not random people with choices and free time

Not to mention the post received 153 upvotes and the mods just removed all the comments.

You violated a rule. It doesn't matter how popular the post is if it is in violation of a very clearly stated rule.

The ban length seems a bit excessive if it was your first offense. You are clearly in the wrong, but you should be able to appeal the ban length. What was the mod team's response when you did?

Update the story continues...

The r/onguardforthee mods have removed a video discussing surveillance bill c-22.
