I once adopted a cat from an NYSPCA truck in Brooklyn. two days later, she escaped from my apartment, never to be seen again. Or so I thought…
Six years later, a cat shelter in Queens contacted me asking me if I had lost a cat. I said that yes I had - once, long ago - is she OK? They said yes, she’s in great shape. I told her that she ran away six years ago, and they told me that she had clearly been well cared for all that time, and it seemed that she had only recently run away, probably in the last few days. Did I want her back?
I said no, she obviously hated me from the moment I adopted her, which is probably why she ran away two days later. Do you think she will be adopted quickly? They told me that, as we were speaking, two different families were already looking at her. I said that it was clear she was in better hands than mine, thanks for the call, and said goodbye.
And to think, when I graduated from Parsons in 2016, I actually tried to apply for a job at Facebook…
Turns out I was already blacklisted in 2015 for a paper I published at SIGGRAPH calling their asses out.
Oops!
I walked up to their table at the Parsons career fair, and the two recruiters just looked at me and just said “no“. Like they just fucking knew who I was by sight.
My favorite when I was a kid was absolutely, and without a doubt Second Reality by Future Crew. Full screen 3-D object rendering at 30 frames a second on a 486SX/25 CPU without a graphics card. in 1993
Future Crew, active in the early 90s, was a legendary group within the demoscene. They were acclaimed for their groundbreaking demos, like “Second Reality”, that demonstrated advanced programming, visual artistry, and music composition. These works set new standards for what was possible in real-time computer graphics, and they inspired countless artists and programmers around the world. Despite the group’s dissolution in 1994, Future Crew’s influence on the demoscene and the broader fields of graphics and game development is undeniable, and their legacy continues to inspire creativity in the digital world.
Fucking legendary.
And it fit on a floppy
Edit: I remember my friend Nick brought back a copy of Second Reality from ASSEMBLY 93, an annual convention of assembly developers where they would show off their programming prowess with these demos. Me and my friends got to see it before it hit the BBSs and Usenet. So fresh, yo!
That’s why nano gets used more than vi/vim. In the past, the majority of people using terminal text editors were geeks and developers. Now the majority of people using the terminal text editors are more often casual users who have no use for putting the time and effort to learn vi/vim, especially because they have no need for the extended functionality
Both SG1 and Atlantis make constant references to Star Trek. Some are vague, some are directly in the dialogue, sometimes as jokes, some are even plot points. But Star Trek references are a constant ongoing thing throughout all of Stargate.
This is especially amusing, considering the large number of notable Star Trek actors that appeared in Stargate series
yet will soon stop working on the latest macOS because it was compiled before macOS supported arm.
Yeah, and who is that gonna affect? Tell me if the tens of millions of people who are gonna become homeless because of this?
Nobody. That’s who. Exactly 0 people will be negatively affected by this, because everybody under this umbrella will already have transitioned to ARM processors themselves, and will never notice the difference.
You’re twisting yourself into pretzels to invent a problem that doesn’t exist just to create an argument so you position yourself as an aggrieved victim, where no victims actually exist
You invented a problem that doesn’t exist just so you could make an argument where and you invented yourself as the only victim. The only problem: none of this is actually real. And I’m here to call you out for your bullshit.
You’re fucking exhausting, and I’m tired of you. You’re blocked.
Somebody made a better one (and it’s smaller)
Sup
I think it took me over an hour to get my sound blaster pro configured just right
Here’s another reference from the era,, let’s see if you get it:
“Did you bring the pages?”
It was from a game, but not a platformer
What kind of craziness would cause a person to think that it might?

(I got another cat the day after she ran away)
Marvels and wonders indeed

“Lies”. They’re full of “lies”.
Holy shit have you never watched SG1? Start with the movie then watch SG1. Atlantis begins after season 8.
If you like Star Trek, you’ll love Stargate.
