i was gonna say, i thought i saw them putting this one up over the weekend. i was disappointed i only got to see "HE CAN'T EVEN WI" but i knew it was going to be a banger
Do these kinds of signs usually get put up all at once by a person/a small team or do they have to do that over multiple nights since it's technically not allowed?
What I've seen: when it's cups in chain link it seems to be a team, when it's a sign like this it might be a team or it might be just one or two people. But like, it's really not hard or time consuming to zip tie some tarps onto a chain link fence. And if you get them in order beforehand, it should go damn smooth. Have someone down the road parked who can call you if you put up a letter out of order and you really should only need two people
It was like, 5pm or something idk I was tired from the beach when I drove by though. They were actively putting it up
Now that you've made me think through the logistics though, and I know where all the flucks are in town...
ADMIN! I feel unsafe in this pool with that flagellite! All grabbing flagella and talking about it.
What you do in your own houseboat with your own algae, i don't care. Just don't wave it around in public and don't expect me to solemnize any kind of marriage to it.
I just watched the new Baki on Netflix this weekend and Trump is a character in it and one of the badass dudes makes him piss himself. It was fantastic. Except they called him Tranp.
excuse me i lived through Soul Train, Grand Funk Railroad, Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and the Alan Parsons Project, which i believe was some sort of hovercraft. give me a little credit.
my project that i've been putting off for the last 20 years is teaching myself Bouree on saxophone instead of flute, because my nephew was taking band and needed a flute so i gave him mine. need another flute now. I have downloaded musescore sheets people have made like five times in the last 20 years, i just have to get off my ass.
I'd heard the random JT song on the radio, but after going through their albums those ended up not even being my favorites. Lots of good stuff on "Too Old to Rock and Roll"!
Oh, and I'll add ELO, because there's a space station on the cover of Out of the Blue.
Honestly, throwing money in the pond would probably work. Specifically pennies. Dissolve enough copper and you'll have a vivid blue reflecting pool that also happens to be toxic to algae (and most other life forms).
It was those witches again. They cursed the national Mall to remain green until the unredacted Epstein files are released and the child rapists finally face justice.
It'd be environmentally catastrophic but I'd be kinda curious what happens if we dumped 300 billion worth of ammonia fertilizer into one part of the ocean as 'repirations to the algae' XKCD style.

Import emus who will eat algae and then nuke the White House to get rid of emus. Problem solved!
marcos@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 63d
That!
It was just a matter of crowdsourcing it a bit, until somebody came out with a more practical solution than aluminum sulfate.
smeenz@lemmy.nz · 4 pts · 63d
The emus seem a bit redundant

Whoever does those signs through Orinda is always on fire and they’re always so consistently topical.

I am not sure if it would or not. You might end up with more algae in a bigger hole.

The biggest hole in the whole world, I hope? The biggest hole anyone has ever seen anywhere? I'm sure it'll be! :)

Do it! Stand Up was, IMO, their best album. Here's another version for motivation: https://youtube.com/watch?v=e6Kyap5BTfo

To be fair, as someone who's fought algae for years, I can attest that it's fucking hard to do.
But I lost the battle for way less than 300 million dollars.
