Seeing a dog owner actually taking proper responsibility for their animal is an extremely rare occurrence around here. I've gone out of my way to thank people for using leashes in leash-only areas because it's so rare to see.
Also been considering picking up a small bottle of pepper spray to keep on my bike.

Check the rules in your jurisdiction. You may be allowed to carry bear spray but not pepper spray.
Governments can be shit with the rules.
