I once worked with a guy for three years and never learned his name. Best friend I ever had. We still never talk sometimes.

It took me 6 years to remember a classmate's name. I just suck with names...

What is in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

This is just everyone I meet in life because what's the point of knowing each other's names if we're not gonna be interacting with one another past at least a month.

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 12 pts · 67d (8 replies)

plus i forget the names anyways

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 9 pts · 67d (7 replies)

i miss the times when names had spiritual significance. you learned their name and you actually learned something about the person, their character traits, history, etc.

Dzheyk@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 67d

Back when names had actual meaning and not just.."well it sounded good." Granted, there's still a lot of power in knowing someone's full name, or "true" name, but it just doesn't hit the same like it used to.

Do Jesus, John, Paul, Ringo, Lilith, Jugemu, etc., not count an being spiritual anymore?

0ops@piefed.zip · 5 pts · 67d

festnt@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 66d

is it really spiritual if 1 in 5 people have a biblical name

gandalf_der_12te@feddit.org · 1 pts · 66d

do you know their meaning? do you choose the name to the person? or just what you like?

festnt@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 66d

yeah let's go back to having titles! call me Dave, the Unnameable

basxto@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 66d

Or their job or where they came from. Some were extremely trivial like height or hair color

Grass@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 67d (2 replies)

It's really hard to remember to begin with. Even when I somewhat remember, the last 7 people were dave, dan, mike, mike, dan, steve, don and I have no idea which is which.

rockerface@lemmy.cafe · 12 pts · 67d (1 reply)

Look at Mr. Extrovert here knowing 7 different guys

Grass@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 67d

it doesn't count when its not only work related but also entirely not by choice
