Canada has defeated South Africa 1-0 in their World Cup Round of 32 knockout match in Los Angeles.

Stephen Eustáquio scored the winner for Canada in stoppage time with a precise strike from the edge of the box.

Team captain Alphonso Davies made his first appearance at the World Cup, coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute.

Canada now moves on to the Round of 16, playing either Morocco or the Netherlands in Houston on July 4.

Pretty incredible. Couldn't have imagined a Canadian team like this when I was a kid.

It must be an amazing experience for the kids playing in youth soccer teams here

A great showing from our team. I'm very proud how far we've come. I didn't really believe I would ever have a Canadian team worth rooting for in the world cup, that we would never make it past group stage. To make it past group stage and then to make it past a round of knockout is just fantastic.
