All that Freedom in Texas, huh? Now show ID to check your facebook, grandma.

Bit of a misconception. Texas is free but the freedom only applies to corporations. Freedom to pollute our air and consume all our water. Freedom to scam consumers. Freedom to indoctrinate our children. Freedom to take our tax dollars, etc.

Why does a law about app stores apply to Bluesky? Not quite following that. Bluesky isn't an app store.

This https://www.eff.org/cyberspace-independence was truly a utopian document. Why did we ever allow governments to destroy that utopia?

This is a great question. It was asked several times in reply to the announcement but received no response. The only logical explanation I can surmise is that bsky wants dat data.

Just a reminder this is coming to the entire US if you don’t call and demand your Senators block it, as just this week the House passed the KIDS Act.

The Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act (H.R. 7757) is a bipartisan legislative package passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on June 29, 2026, designed to protect minors online through age verification, parental controls, and platform accountability.

Bluesky asked me to enter my age (not upload any ID or anything) when I opened a notification. I said hell no and closed the entire app.

It hasn't asked me since. Does that mean I'm on the Kids' Experience™?

I'm based in Europe.

Seen a few sites do that ever sense UK did its anti porn thing. Real obnoxious when in different country. Im thinking the sites are just going that region over there to be safe.
