Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!
This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.
It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:
- Something interesting that happened to you
- Something humourous that happened to you
- Something frustrating that happened to you
- A quick question
- A request for recommendations
- Pictures of your pet
- A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
- Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)
So how’s it going?

Welcome to the school holidays! I'm still working most of it but at least I don't have to get up so early.
I had hoped to update my Libre Elec TV setup from the current old laptop strapped to the back, to a Raspberry Pi. But a 16GB RPi5 is like $600 so there goes that idea. I also wanted to update my OG Framework but I have DDR4 RAM and all the upgraded mainboards use DDR5 RAM, meaning if I upgrade then I will need to buy new RAM. I have 64GB currently and so there's no way I'm forking out the $1.5 million (estimated) to buy DDR5 RAM.
I think I need a new hobby until the AI crash.

Found out very late in life that I’m gluten intolerant. Anybody know where to find reasonably priced GF bread?
The Pam’s loaf is ok, but it’s smaller than a normal loaf of bread and more expensive. Sandwiches are mainstay snack on my diet but I’ve been cutting back on them as there’s less slices in the loaf.

That's annoying, and doubly so if your diet mostly consists of sandwiches!
I know someone whose kid was diagnosed coeliac, and they have found getting onto NZ gluten free groups to be invaluable. I know we don't normally encourage mainstream social media here but it could be a good way to find things.
