Yes.
The first car to reach 100 km/h was electric.
That was about the turn of the century.
It was called Jamais Contente (Never Content or Never Happy).

Who knows if this one could arrive at 100kmh without falling apart. But to its defense, it was a city car - not such speed was not part of the plan.
