Hundreds of residents in Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta gathered to oppose a planned far-right anti-migrant rally, forcing organisers to cancel the event amid heightened tensions following a temporary influx of migrants crossing from Morocco.
Matteo Villa, a migration researcher at the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, said politics was most likely involved. “What happened in 2021 was the small-scale version of what happened yesterday,” he said. “I mean, 50,000 people do not come overnight when usually it’s hundreds per month. Sánchez going to Algeria is something Morocco didn’t really like.”
Villa suggested Morocco may have loosened the border as a way of showing it has “the upper hand”, especially because authorities there know it would cause an overreaction in Europe. “They love seeing all the fighting between European countries,” he added.

The speculation has been fueled by public statements by Israeli officials and by pro-Israel commentators. In an article published in March, former Pentagon official Michael Rubin opined that “Moroccans should gather, send bulldozers to the border, and then enter Ceuta and Melilla unarmed to raise the [Moroccan] flag.”
And in a dispatch for the Israeli Ynet News website, Amine Ayoub – a fellow at the neoconservative Middle East Forum – proposed that Israel should “help Morocco reclaim” Ceuta and Melilla. In Ayoub’s view, the timing for such an operation was particularly ripe on account of the fraught relationship between the US and Spain, with the Spanish government having been annoyingly uncooperative in the US-Israel war on Iran.
In the very last sentence of his intervention, Ayoub arrived at the real reason for Israeli “help” to Morocco: “It is strategic investment in the partner that, across the Strait of Gibraltar, holds the key to one of the world’s most vital maritime chokepoints.”
I've been reflecting a lot on this, as well as other forms of equality, given that our context is born in Bulgaria, which is trying to transition, and living in the West which is supposedly more advanced in this matter.
One of the conclusions I believe to have reached is that myths matter. When people are born and grow up with the expectation of equality and fairness, they object when they see it violated. Otherwise, they just accept it as it is. I believe this is a source of an important generational gap.
But imam chovek is also a problem to be solved. If things don't happen without connections (i.e. personal motivation on behalf of the person delivering the service), one seeks other ways to achieve them. And this is an important source of innovation. In a better society, one would seek to solve the problem not only for themselves, but also for others to come. In capitalism, this solution arrives with a commercial benefit. Not the only possible way, but commonly quite an effective way.
I'm society with big immigrant communities, personal connections are more segregated and these type of problems stand stronger, so the drive to find solutions is stronger.
I'm saying all this not as something to convince you, but as something for which I seek validation from you. :)

But I don't understand your frustration regarding the possibility that a part of the security budget is spent on literacy and awareness development. Why would you be upset about it?

As someone coming from Eastern Europe, I can understand this hate well. Historically, communism has dismantled monarchism in a very violent way (and even this is putting it mildly).
But the desperation now is so big that they need to unite against the common enemies in power, both in Iran and worldwide.
Hopefully we will finally see sustainable and seasonal fruits and vegetables be more affordable than greenhouse produce stuffed with artificial substances.

I wouldn't think the signs are fake, but rather that your perception is misguided. But this is my opinion, that's yours.
